Echras never knew who his real parents were, and was left on the doorstep of another family when he was still only a baby in the middle of the night. His fate had been left to the mercy of a man named Oswald Inariss, who had been awoken by the noise outside. Oswald held the screaming child in his arms and looked down at him, conflicted in the choices he was now responsible to make. None the less, it was only decent of him to at least take the child inside and take care of him until the morning. Oswald's wife, Lyra, had also awoken to the child's cries now as well, and came downstairs to see what was the matter. As Oswald handed her the child, her face was quickly overwhelmed with a torrent of tears as she clutched the child. The couple had tried for many years to have a child of their own, but with no success. In that moment, they both knew what had been decided. They gave him the name Echras Lucious Inariss.
Echras' spent most of his young life scouring the many tomes stored in the library that his father worked. It was here, he would be introduced into the realms of magic. It fascinated him that such amazing feats could be performed with a few scrap materials and the will for them to happen. He took special interest in the documentaries recording the various planes and the beings that existed within them. By age 16, he had practically memorized all the tomes on the subject of the infernal, abyssal, and celestial planes. His hunger for knowledge nearly consumed him, causing his social life and physique to atrophy. Oswald and Lyra began to worry for him, but it mattered not to Echras. Magic was the true strength of man and mastering it was of the highest importance to him.
At age 17, he found himself learning the ways of Wizardy through its practices as opposed to just the theories, apprenticing himself under a man named Remington Steele. Echras took to his calling like a a fish leanrs to swim, mastering his art almost three times faster than many of Remington's other disciples. Remington could not believe Echras' drive for learning. He described it as being 'an unstopable force that could prove any immovable object to be a lie.' Echras could not help but get a little egotistical from all the praise he had received, though he tried to keep his composure as best he could. Still, his own aptitude for the arcane arts got the best of him as he decided to leave his home with the idea that he no longer needed his master's guidance after 2 years.
On his last day at home, Oswald and Lyra decided to tell Echras that he was not their true son. They told him everything that he had not yet known or thought otherwise, recalling in great detail the night he had been left outside the their house. Much to his parents' surprise, Echras was neither upset nor angered by learning this fact. Instead, he merely paused silently for a moment and then gave them his thanks for what they had done. “Though it may not be through blood, I will always understand you as my true mother and father,' Echras exclaimed to them. “And I will see to it that I become the greatest wizard Eberron has ever known. I promise to make you the proud parents you had always wished to be.”
And with a few happy tears shed, Echras set off on his new life of adventure with his first stop being Sharn.

Echras took to his calling like a a fish leanrs to swim, mastering his art almost three times faster than many of Remington's other disciples. Remington could not believe Echras' drive for learning. He described it as being 'an unstopable force that could prove any immovable object to be a lie.' Echras could not help but get a little egotistical from all the praise he had received, though he tried to keep his composure as best he could. Still, his own aptitude for the arcane arts got the best of him as he decided to leave his home with the idea that he no longer needed his master's guidance after 2 years.
On his last day at home, Oswald and Lyra decided to tell Echras that he was not their true son. They told him everything that he had not yet known or thought otherwise, recalling in great detail the night he had been left outside the their house. Much to his parents' surprise, Echras was neither upset nor angered by learning this fact. Instead, he merely paused silently for a moment and then gave them his thanks for what they had done. “Though it may not be through blood, I will always understand you as my true mother and father,' Echras exclaimed to them. “And I will see to it that I become the greatest wizard Eberron has ever known. I promise to make you the proud parents you had always wished to be.”
And with a few happy tears shed, Echras set off on his new life of adventure with his first stop being Sharn.
